This book sucks you in and won’t let go. I didn’t really know what was happening in the first chapter but I was more than happy to go along for the ride.
Hunter rescues Lorrie in more ways than plucking her from a freezer lake. They are very damaged souls. The thing that gets me, they don’t actually reveal their hearts fully. They put themselves on the line but they don’t show their hands that are held tightly to their chest.
Lorrie’s mother was murdered and her father committed suicide. Lorrie is walking a fine line of keeping herself together and not spiralling into depression herself. She sets off to university and meets Hunter in a unique way.
I do love my fighter stories but I certainly didn’t expect this. Hunter’s your typical Alpha. He’s strong, he’s pretty much beating the ladies off with a stick while trying to win over Lorrie’s affections.
The too-ing and fro-ing between them about wanting to start a relationship and not is achingly painful. I was actually yelling at the kindle saying ‘c’mon already!’ but I understand and appreciate why Lorrie has her reservations. How is she expected to make someone else feel complete when she feels so empty?
The tension is crazy. Hunter is a man who gets what he wants and Lorrie finally gives into her feelings. West has written a great love story. The heartache, the miscommunications, and the drama – all flows beautifully and I cannot wait to get stuck into the follow on book Rescued that I have just bought and downloaded.
