Unexpected by Lilly Avalon
Genre: New adult
Ever had one of those days? Alina Lyons is having one. Everything keeps falling apart and going wrong. Just when she thinks it couldn’t get worse, it does. After a case of mistaken identity and a broken heart, she finds herself questioning the things she thought she knew. She wonders who she can turn to or trust anymore.
An unlikely bond with her former best friend’s ex, Ryan Wilcox, sends her life in a new direction. He offers her a place to stay while she gets her life back on track. His friendship is exactly what she’s been missing—what she’s been needing. Alina’s never felt this alive. As time goes by, the dynamic of their relationship becomes more than either of them expected. A few innocent kisses could lead them in a new direction, but are they prepared for what’s on the other side?
Only one way to find out.
I had the utmost pleasure of being a beta reader for this book and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it before I even gave my feedback to Lilly.
This book has everything I love in my readings. I was laughing, I was gasping as the events unfolded, I was getting hot under the collar and I was willing for Alina and Ryan to get together.
Alina is instantly engaging. She’s having a bad day. No, scrap that. She’s having a craptastic day at best. She aptly renames Murphy’s Law to Alina’s Law. No boyfriend, no job, no home.
Ryan’s not having the best of days either but he is the guy that dreams are made of. He’s thoughtful, he’s caring and he wants the best for Alina. He’s strong and he’s just delicious.
Honestly, Lilly’s writing gets better with each story she writes. The second I hear someone say Lilly’s name, my inner fangirl wants to get up and start screaming her praises. I know that a quality love story that will my make my heart sing awaits me. To me, Lilly is the queen of feels. She manages to create a world of relatable characters and they take hold of my hand as they take me through their journey to finding love.
