Mackenzie Greene was running. Running away from her sister, her old life, and everything she left behind in Vegas. She needs a do-over and Miami is her place to start. But how long can she keep her secret? And what will happen when Mila finds out?
Bronx Boston was on top of the world. The youngest undefeated UFC fighter, and with one punch, he lost all the glory. He’s moved to Miami to lick his wounds and plot his revenge. Can he ever get back on top? Or will his own demons keep him down?
Two really broken people who meet up by chance. Can they make it work together? Or will their personal issues tear them apart?
Hmm … love me a fighter story. You don’t get just one in this book – you get two! The one that took me by surprise was the heroine. Mackenzie has struggled after the death of her parents at an early age. Not seeing eye to eye with her older sister, sent her on a mission to make some money. This meant working at a strip joint. Her plan was working till her sister’s blabber mouth boyfriend told everyone she wasn’t of legal age and she got fired. This was just problem number one.
Fleeing to Miami, we jump forward in time where she has forged a life for herself, the last thing she expected was down and definitely almost out fighter Bronx Boston. He’s learning to live again himself after bouncing around on one of his many rock bottoms and now he wants to make good on her offer. Kenzie is taking a chance on helping this former fighter to keep him from a life in the gutter.
These two make a dynamic couple and I couldn’t put this book down. The writing is fast paced and as short as this story is, to me, it’s perfect. We don’t get bogged down in needless details. We just hear the story from both points of view and I defy anyone who says they don’t get swept away in this story of not only love, but life and making opportunities where you can.
I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion, getting this for free has not swayed my thoughts in any way.
