Now, it’s not usual for me to gush over an author but when it comes to Helena Hunting – let me take a minute to appreciate her awesomeness. I’m not going to lie, when I find a series that I love, (and I did with her Clipped Wings series) that I have hesitation of how their follow up works will compare. (Yes, I realise it’s wrong to compare, they are like children – you just don’t Karen!)
I’ll admit, when I heard that she was working on another book, I did the wild clappy hand dance. When I saw the cover, again with the wild clappy hand dance. When the ARC was sent to my email – there was a whole body dance and the world no longer existed.
So, onto my review – The Librarian Principle was everything I was hoping it would be and what Hunting does best. Strong characters, drama, tension, sexy times and moments that flood my heart with feels.
Annaliese ‘Liese’ is instantly attracted to her boss Ryder Whitehall and she quickly tampers down any ideas of taking anything beyond a professional relationship. That is till her best friend Marissa keeps sending her heaps of photoshopped porn showcasing Leise and Ryder in a range of sexual positions to rival the Karma Sutra.
It’s not long till Ryder finds this gold mine of porn and strikes a relationship that could both get them fired. One thing Hunting does well is writes characters that are flawed and with conscience. Both of them care so much for each other, they are prepared to break their own hearts to keep each other safe. Add the drama of an unrelenting ex-partner threatens to implicate both herself and Ryder in their illicit affair.
There is a lot of internalising of the situation from all characters and it all adds to the drama. The tension – lordy – cut it with a knife and it’s extra cute when Ryder gets all Alpha.
This book is fast paced, I had no trouble and enjoyed reading it in one sitting. There were many laugh out loud moments that had my husband asking ‘what are you giggling about?’ oh honey, if only you knew!
Hunting you have kept up your end of the bargain – you’ve given me a read that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.
I was kindly provided with a free copy of this book from the author to provide an honest review. Receiving this book for free did not influence my opinion nor review.
