I, Aidan Stone, got the girl.
My beautiful Eevie is sweet and sassy, and she owns my heart like no other. I promised her, I’d always protect her, and I meant it, but shit just got serious.
Blackmail. Extortion. And Eevie is the target.
Sometimes the past comes back to haunt us. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to distance yourself from it, it comes back and bites you on the arse. And in walks Mr Hotshot Detective, Ryan Clark, thinkin’ he can save the day and take my girl.
Well, I’ve got news for him.
So glad to be back in the circle with Aidan and Eevie but to me – I desperately wanted to know why Aidan’s ex-partner Tara was trying to contact Eevie.
Aidan and Eevie are just meant to be together – nothing can keep them apart – unless they do it themselves. Taking their relationship to the next level by moving in together is meant to be exciting and full of adventure but not the bad kind that seems to be lurking around the corner.
Considering the horrors that happened to Eevie in Spark, I had a sense of dread that that was going to resurface and I’m glad to say, it didn’t. I don’t think my nerves would have handled that.
It’s heartbreaking to see them both move into the area that is bad for a relationship – lies, dishonesty and hurt. My heart was heavy for both of them as they both try to protect each other but end up making it so much more worse for themselves.
Again Ms Ryder doesn’t relent on the tension and I had to read this book in one sitting because I wanted to know what was going to happen. Loved the introduction of Ryan even if he was a douche. I couldn’t help but snicker when he and Aidan came head to head. (Can’t wait for Sting).
Jones is another character that had me on my toes. Didn’t know whether to trust him or not but as it turns out – he’s just horny and this makes a seamless transition into book number three in this series Strike.
The love that Aidan and Eevie have is the stuff that legend love stories are made of.
I bought a copy of this book with my own money.
