As a reader and reviewer, there is nothing more frustrating for me to be sucked into a story and then coming to a grinding halt with a typo. Many readers will say it interrupts the flow or they have to reread the paragraph to make sense or worse – put the book down and encourage others to pick another.
I believe that you as a writer have a certain expectation in being a wordsmith to get them right. Yes, typos happen to good people. We are all human and they can slip through. It can be heartbreaking to an author to have a review posted similar to ‘could have been a good story if there weren’t so many typos!’ or worse ‘I asked for a refund – needs some serious editing’.
I have a keen eye when it comes to finding those slippery little suckers that seem to find the way through onto the page. I will look over final manuscripts and offer markings on punctuation, grammar, typos but this does not offer any conversation on content issues as that is the beta service. You can choose to combine the beta and proofing package and have them done at the same time or separately. The decision is yours.
