No Limit by LP Dover
Series: Armed and Dangerous #1
Genre: Contemporary romance, mystery, suspense
Murder. Lies. Betrayal.
I deal with those things every day. My name is Jason Avery, one of the best undercover agents in the country. I have yet to fail on a mission, which is why I’ve been sent to Vegas. Countless women have been abducted, tortured, only to show up dead in the middle of the night. It’s my job to find out which sick fuck is responsible. Unfortunately, every lead sends me to a dead end; at least, until Aylee McFadden shows up at my door.
Aylee is a stubborn, headstrong FBI agent and also one of the sexiest women I’ve ever seen with a gun. In joining me, it gives us the leverage we need to get on the inside. She fights me at every turn, but soon realizes there’s more to me than tattoos and a dirty mouth. I can’t get enough of her. Now that we’re in the game, we’re one step closer to solving the crime. However, gambling with money isn’t what the big boys want. They want the one thing I’m not willing to give.
It’s a no limit game, and if I back down I lose everything. I will lose her.
I have been chomping at the bit to get into this book having adored LP’s Gloves Off series. I know this is a dramatic shift from that series (and to be expected and shouldn’t be compared) but this book is bang on target for me.
This suspense thriller, contemporary romance has Dover’s wit and charm is sprinkled liberally throughout. I really enjoyed the alternating POV’s and I love a strong female lead. It’s so not Dover’s style to write a weak heroine and I’m glad she didn’t change that. There is just one thing that I wished had happened but I can’t say it without a massive spoiler – *PM me if you want to discuss*
Now, Jason. Avery. Delicious just doesn’t cover him. Smart. Passionate. Infuriating. He’s the perfectly imperfect hero. There’s tension. There’s sizzle. There’s drama and there’s substance. This is a strong story with the blossoming romance intertwined.
Another thing I really enjoyed is that Dover doesn’t hold back either. There are some cracking scenes that the pacing is spot on. I love it when an author spreads their wings from their norm. What I really love is when an author does it well.
Can’t wait for the next instalment Roped In that comes out in August – I did get a copy of this for free for my honest opinion.
