Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?
This is the story I’ve been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.
Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.
Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.
But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I’m the one discovering him…or if he’s uncovering me.
What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
The schedule was cleared.
The kids fed and put to bed along with a prayer of ‘oh God, please, don’t let this book suck. I would be mortified if I had to say to one of my highly regarded authors that ‘no – just didn’t do it for me’.
It’s always nerve wrecking for the author to start something new for fear of being typecast but it’s just as nail biting for a fan on their works. I did have that glimmer of ‘what if?’ but thankfully, I was more excited to go on a journey with these new characters and see where they took me. Anyone who has doubts that Evans is only going to be known as the author of Remy – pfft – he needs to sit this round out – make way for Saint.
This is not the book I expected from the blurb. I expected this book to be written from Malcolm’s perspective, instead we are thrown into the lap of our heroine Rachel. Her wit and her flaws make her very relatable. I really enjoyed the style of writing and the way Rachel told her story. I did question if she had any scruples for the role she played in the relationship but like her, I too fell in love with Malcolm. She was taking a chance on the impossible.
I can see it now though, the CG and FSOG comparisons – there’s no need to compare – I could totally see Malcolm hanging out with Christian. Malcolm is not a substitute – he holds his own. In saying that – I got a total Sex and the City vibe, Rachel is like Carrie.
The tension in this book drips off the page. At some points, I was holding my breath. The way they eye f**k each other left me just as flushed as Rachel. As I continued to read, I was constantly thinking ‘how is this going to pan out?’ ‘how is she going to come clean now?’. The further Rachel went with the relationship, the bigger the hole of mistrust she digs.
I love the qualities Rachel draws from Malcolm. There are several points where he grows as a character but when he talks to her about how she doesn’t want his money, doesn’t want to associate with his social life and how he wants to be the man to protect her – oh lordy! That – that was off the charts hot for me – almost as swoon worthy as their kiss in his new offices.
Evans’ to me writes great books full of tension, drama and characters I can’t help but fall in love with. I’m sure the collective screams of frustration will be heard around the globe when you finish this book. Katy – you are an evil genius.
Can’t wait for book two in this series.
Okay – I have to gush – never in a trillion years did I ever think I would be worthy enough to review a headliners work like Evans’ before all the other big named blogs. I thought that was only reserved for them, not a newcomer like me. Cloud nine couldn’t even touch how high I was. That being said, this book had a lot of my expectations placed on it. I was kindly provided with a free copy of this book from the author to provide an honest review. Receiving this book for free did not influence my opinion nor review. I loved it so much – I had to have a paperback copy to go with the Real series for my bookshelf.
