It’s been two months since Allegra walked out of Devlin’s hotel room. Well, two months and five days, but she’s not counting. She needs to move on, but before she can, Devlin shows up again…as her new coworker.
Seeing him at work every day is enough to make her lose her mind. Allegra tries to stay away from Devlin, knowing the effect he has on her, but she can’t. The more she’s around him, the more she’s tempted to have something more with him. After everything that’s happened in the past, it’s a slippery slope that may land her in a place she never wants to revisit. Something is happening to her heart, though. A longing is building up that isn’t one-sided…and doesn’t feel temporary.
He wants her. She wants a forever. Is it possible to have it all?
*Longing is a full-length erotica novel, and the sequel to Resist*
The queen of feels has returned with a glorious follow up to Resist with Longing. Picking up shortly after where Resist ended, Allegra is stopped dead in her tracks when she comes face to face with the man she left in the middle of the night.
Devlin is now not only her former one-night stand but also her colleague. I couldn’t help but think, ‘why is Allegra being such a bitch!?’ The story unfolds and the explanation is given. She puts Devlin through his paces while she’s trapped in her cynical ways, I think she really makes Devlin pay for what her ex-partner did to her. Her blame is not fair and I really did feel for Devlin. But he’s a man of intention and he has no intention of being with anyone else. (Cue the feels).
More things become apparent for Allegra’s mental state. When things don’t plan out how she wants them or she feels threatened – she runs. She ran from her ex-partner, she runs from her flatmate when confronted and she runs from Devlin. This just shows how emotionally unbalanced she is. That is until Devlin balances her out. He gives her the reassurances she needs.
I love the side story of Allegra’s roommate Sonya and the drama that it brings. Allegra needed to be pulled up and when she meets the ghost of her past, she has too and she now knows her behaviour and through process is going to cost her her future if she doesn’t let things go and stop being her own roadblock. I was actually hoping for a different ending for Sonya but maybe that could be a follow up story – hint hint LOL.
Devlin is delicious. A true gentleman and a pleasure to read. Allegra is feisty, determined and complement each other beautifully!
Lilly, you have won me over yet again with your words and your character’s worlds. I always have a fear that my favourite authors are going to break my heart when they write something new and I’m not going to like it but as far as Lilly’s writing is concerned, it hits the bullseye every time.
