Follow Anna as she evolves from a fifteen-year-old with a special talent to the world’s deadliest assassin, 15. The brand-new finale to the series, HiT to Live, is included in this specially-priced boxed set.
Anna Brookes is not your typical teenager. Her walls are not adorned with posters of boy bands or movie stars. Instead posters from Glock, Ruger, and Smith & Wesson grace her bedroom. Anna’s mother abandoned her at birth, and her father, St. Cloud Police Chief Henry Brookes, taught her how to shoot and coached her to excellence. On Anna’s fifteenth birthday, unwelcome guests join the celebration, and Anna’s world is never the same. You’ll meet the world’s top assassin, 15, and follow her as she discovers the one hit she’s not sure she can complete – Ben Pearson, the current St. Cloud Police Chief and a man with whom Anna has explosive sexual chemistry. Enter a world of intrigue, power, and treachery as Anna takes on old and new enemies, while falling in love with the one man with whom she can’t have a relationship.
Wow. Just … wow. This boxset left me unsure and wanting more. I had no idea what twists and turns Anna was going to take me on and I loved it! If you are looking for a meek, male-dependant lead – this is SO not your book.
Anna Brookes is the best of the best when it comes to guns. So much so, she is approached by recruiters, or so her father believes. Anna also has a talent, a six sense if you like, about bad people. The unthinkable happens and her life is never the same.
She spends her young life on the run. I didn’t learn too much about Anna’s transformation in 15 until book two but don’t let that turn you off. All in good time.
I really liked the underlying tones of this book are simmering away. A woman who has been so closed off to anything emotional, is now in a very confusing and confronting situation. She has feelings for the man she’s meant to kill. She’s never really had time to process what’s happened to her and I was waiting for it to all come crashing down.
The tension between her and Ben is electric and cannot be ignored. He does come on strong and even a little weak in some parts. In saying that, he’s doing his part and I couldn’t help but giggle at the comment about her not looking at the dead bodies.
Anna Brookes In Training gave me all the information I needed about how Anna became 15. Lordy – I should know to expect it – Margaret’s writing takes me on a journey of wonderment. I didn’t know what was going to happen through the next two books and what a journey it was. I was on the edge of my seat, reading over the pages as the story consumed me.
Many a time I was holding my breath, holding down my lunch and cheering Anna on.
Several times I was left gasping with my mind blown.
HiT for Freedom – oh lordy. What a woman. She does unthinkable things and I was left reeling once more. There are characters that were brought into the fold and I kinda pegged them but Margaret is very good at keeping her cards close to her chest. I love it when a book trips me up. Makes me go back and find passages for clues and I did pick one of the endings, I certainly didn’t pick another and that to me is AWESOME!
HiT to Live – holy hell. What a read, what a rush! I can’t say anything about this book without giving out spoilers. Talk about biting my nails down to the quick! This book is by far my favourite and I really enjoyed all of them. The writing and pacing is tight. The quality is best seller and the suspense is off the charts. I defy anyone to say this book is predictable. Margaret – don’t know how you do it but you manage to blow my mind every time I pick up one of your books. Don’t ever stop writing!
Honestly, if you haven’t experienced this author – you are really missing out. There’s no other way to say it.
I bought a copy of this series in paperback and it’s worth every cent.
