Drawn to Fight: Hugo and Meg by Lillian Anderson
Series: Drawn to Fight
Genre: contemporary romance.
Sometimes, it’s inappropriate to fall in love with a certain someone. I should know. When I met Hugo Sparks, I didn’t know he was my art teacher. But, by the time we found out, it was too late – we’d already fallen. But, we did the right thing, we tried to fight it. Eventually though, we gave in. That was when my brother Zac caught us. He said it would tear our family apart – we were already hanging on by a thread. I said I was in love. He didn’t believe me and did everything he could to keep us apart.
Including breaking my heart. In return, I broke his.
My name is Meg Reid – Zac Rivers’ half sister. This is a tale of hurting the ones you love, and thinking it’s for the best.
If you want a read to sucker punch you in the feels, pick up this book. There was a glimmer of Meg and Hugo in book Zac and Evie and I couldn’t wait for this book – it has been waiting patiently for me, moving up the TBR list and the time had come. The weather was perfect, rainy day, lounge free and Kindle in hand.
This book is about the off-limits relationship between student and teacher. For most of the book, I was sitting there reading at warp speed. I’m sure the kids ate lunch that day as I was so engrossed at how they could try and get the relationship back on track. This book is an anti-romance. They spend most of the time separated and trying to work through their issues, all while biding the time for Meg to be of legal age.
This is one thing though. The fact that it’s against the law for a teacher to date a student. This is brought up numerous times and the person who could go to jail acts like he doesn’t know the rule or is even worried about it. I was yelling at the book ‘you should KNOWWWWWW this is illegal!!!! You could go to jail!’
Aside from that little faux pas, I really liked this book. The character’s struggles had me in knots. I was willing for them to get together and it was so deliciously frustrating when they couldn’t / wouldn’t be.
Highly recommend this read and I’m saddened to say that this is the end of this read.
I bought a copy of this book with my own money.
