Mia Cantrell is happy to be rid of her lying, cheating, ex-husband. With her divorce final, Mia is moving on, grasping the reins of life once more. She’s learning to deal with the shattered remains while putting one foot in front of the other, taking control of her own decisions, and ultimately living one day at a time. Too bad the universe has put a hiccup (or two) in her well thought out plan.
Phoenix Pierce is putting the pieces back together after the death of his father. Between his multi-million dollar company, the NHL team he now owns, and the endless supply of women willing to share a bed for one night of uninhibited sex, he finds himself going through the motions. Until he meets Mia. Although he’s on a mission to win her, that doesn’t solve his problem of the other person he wants… the man he has denied himself for years.
Tarik Marx doesn’t think anyone could ever fill the void in his life the way Phoenix unknowingly has. That is until he meets Mia. Thanks to a fractured childhood, Tarik has to face a bigger problem: he doesn’t know how it feels to be loved. His past adds additional complexity when Tarik finds himself trying to figure out how he can have them both.
Is it possible for a million tiny pieces to come together again? And if they do, will that make the bond even stronger than before?
This book is hot, it’s intense and it’s a wonderful unconventional romance. Actually scrap that, the sex scenes put HOT in the mild category. It’s beautifully written and is so much more than ‘just’ a ménage.
I hate when the weight of writing a review is pressing on my chest. I want to make sure this review does this book justice because it is THAT good of a book.
The dynamic between these three is electric. On their own, they are wonderfully interesting – together they are unstoppable and you won’t want them to stop. This is a perfect mixture of drama, sex scenes and emotion. There was a scene where my jaw dropped and I’ll readily admit – have no idea what the kids ate for tea (think it might have been pizza) because I was so caught up in Mia, Tarik’s and Phoenix’s world. Talk about a book hangover. There were certain scenes I was hunting back through to relive. Just perfection.
Mia is a smart woman and now she is making inroads with her life following her divorce. I was intrigued to learn her story. Takes a strong woman to not be jaded by the actions of one and carry them over to anyone else that enters her life. She’s emotional but she’s ready to live her life on her terms.
I loved the first ‘meeting’ of Mia and Phoenix. They are both so aware of each other, taking each other in but so overtly. This was beautifully written. My cheeks were actually starting to hurt from all the grinning I was doing while reading.
I was snickering out loud at the banter between Phoenix and Tarik and adore the unspoken bond between those two men. It was hard not to be jealous of Mia. The jam to their donut, the spread to their bread, she’s a lucky gal! I love how Ms Edwards has written this book to show off how it can be more than just one person to hold your heart and your interests dear. There is no jealousy. There is no fighting. They complement each other wonderfully and have each other’s backs. I’m not sure how it would hold up in real life but this is the joy of books – it’s not my reality.
Some people might be put off by some of the scenes (some of them are M/F/M) but I don’t see how it’s a bad thing when these three love each other so much. I would highly recommend this book to anyone. The emotional growth these three have because of each other. The things that Phoenix can admit to Tarik because of Mia and Tarik is able to open up once he knows his feelings for Phoenix are returned – it’s just beautiful.
