Do fairytale’s always have a happily ever after? Jay and Lil’s had just found the love they once shared and foolishly lost. But, a horrific turn events threatens to end it forever. Jay must race against time to save his ol’ lady Lil’s and their baby before tragedy strikes. In this sequel we learn more about Jay, the deep love he has for his soulmate, and just how far he is willing to go to protect her.
This novella is approx. 50,500 words and does not contain a cliffhanger ending like it’s prequel. However, an epic love story like Lil’s and Jay cannot possibly be wrapped up in two tidy little novella’s… now can it?
I really liked this book! With the cliffy from book one in this series, I didn’t have to get all Hulk Smash while waiting for book two (does that give you an indication of my love/hate of cliffhangers?).
There are many things I liked about this book – Jay’s perspective. There is a lot of insight into this book and it makes it much more complex when we read from Jay’s point of view. The first chapter is gripping and I really feel that Ms Oakes has hit her mark here. You can feel the tension and the relief and then the chaos that comes with the developments of the first chapter. Have to say, I was holding my breath quite a few times.
The fact that Jay really does get to be the hero for Lil. He’s on a mission to save her from the rival gang that took her in the very first chapter of book one. The other thing that I really like, was the brutality is real between the gangs. People who want the Hello Kitty of motorcycle gangs shouldn’t be reading this series.
The flashbacks continue through the story and again, gives great insight. What I’m noticing about Tara’s writing is her strength lies with little treats throughout the story. I think the intimate dialogue about the package being on backorder is genius.
We get to meet two new characters in a better light. Clink and Charlotte. Charlie has an air about her that makes me like her but I’m just not trusting her. There’s something more too her and I hope she gets to share more of her story as this series progress. There is something about Clink too that makes me think he’s hiding something.
This series just gets better! There are several laugh out loud moments within this tale – can’t put the nickname of Charlie in my review or Amazon will ban it for the swears. LOL
